Undergraduate research

Currently accepting Special Projects and honors students

Active CURE projects at MCC:

  1. The effect of irrigation on ground dwelling arthropod diversity in a desert environment” is a multi-year field data collection project started in 2018. Students participate in hypothesis generation, setting up field collections, identifying organisms, collecting and analyzing data.

  2. How does urban structure affect nocturnal arthropods?” was developed during my UN SDG Open Pedagogy Fellowship. This two part project links quantitative analysis of nocturnal arthropods to an analysis of the conservation implications of urban planning. Students set up light traps, gather data (numerical, photographic, geographic), and perform preliminary ecological analysis.
